Countryside Properties : HELPING HAND FOR SECOND STEPPERS MAKING THE NEXT MOVE

One third* of the county's homeowners moving into their second home are unaware of the help available for selling their existing properties.

Last month, Countryside surveyed the region's house hunters and found that Greater Manchester homeowners didn't understand the options available to them when it came to trading up their existing property for a new-build.

The homebuilder is encouraging those families to take advantage of its Part Exchange initiative, which enables buyers to 'trade in' their current property for a Countryside home. Part Exchange also means buyers can move without the worry of selling their existing house on the open market, whilst eliminating the need for paying estate agent fees.

Homeowners Paula (44) and Stuart Selwood (40) used the Part Exchange scheme to swap their four-bedroom Hyde property for a five-bedroom home at Countryside's Clarendon Place development in Gee Cross, Hyde.

Paula commented: 'Moving house is always stressful as there's so many factors to consider. Using Countryside's Part Exchange initiative did help the buying process go quite quickly and we had the keys in around eight weeks.'

Designed to cater to the increasing need for larger homes in Hyde, the Stockport Road development has experienced a steady increase in enquiries from residents with an existing home to sell since it launched in August last year.

Around 32% of those surveyed also said that the cost of general maintenance, appliances and new kitchen / bathrooms were much more expensive than they had anticipated on older homes.
