Countryside Properties : NEW CO-OP HANDED OVER AT FEATURE 17 IN WALTHAMSTOW

The construction of a new Co-op convenience retail store at Feature 17, Countryside's regeneration of the Marlowe Road Estate in partnership with Waltham Forest Council, reached practical completion in January 2018.

Located to the east of Walthamstow town centre, the new convenience retail store is part of Phase 1A of the Feature 17 development, which is providing 103 new homes. The new store has been built adjacent to the proposed public plaza and play area which will be created in Phase 2 of development, by the end of 2019.

Built to a BREEAM 'very good' standard, the 390 sq m store is owned by Waltham Forest Council and will be let to the Co-op. The newly delivered commercial space will now begin fitting out in order to meet the Company's brand requirements, before the planned opening of the unit next month.

When fully complete, Feature 17 will provide 436 new homes, with 38% affordable, including 150 council homes for social rent to replace the outdated existing homes. New community and commercial space is also being delivered, transforming the former Marlowe Road Estate and the area to the north of Wood Street station.

Cllr Clare Coghill, Leader of Waltham Forest Council, said: 'Working with forward-thinking partners like Countryside Partnerships South has allowed us to build much needed new homes in our borough, as well as shopping facilities for our community. When this development is complete it will enhance the Wood Street area significantly. Waltham Forest is proud to have the highest affordable housing provision in London with 47 per cent of our new homes built in the last three years being affordable.
