Acton Gardens, Countryside and L&Q's flagship estate regeneration scheme, has been shortlisted in the Best Regeneration Initiative category at the 2018 Housebuilder Awards.

The 52-acre South East Acton Estate is being transformed into a new mixed-tenure neighbourhood, replacing 1,800 life-expired homes with 2,800 high-quality homes across 21 development phases.

Acton Gardens has been highlighted as an example of best practice in the government's Estate Regeneration National Strategy, leading the way in estate regeneration and setting an extremely high standard for commitment to community engagement.

Keeping residents central to the development process, Countryside and L&Q encourages locals to respond to the plans during each of the 21 phases, ensuring that the development responds to the needs of the community.

Over 55,000 sq ft of commercial and retail space is also being delivered at Acton Gardens as well as a new state-of-the-art community centre, youth club, dental and doctor's surgeries and a neighbourhood office.

Mike Woolliscroft, Managing Director for Partnerships South, West London at Countryside, said: 'It is hugely exciting that the Housebuilder Awards 2018 has shortlisted Acton Gardens for the Best Regeneration Initiative category.

In addition to delivering genuinely affordable and high-quality homes, we are working with local residents and stakeholders, to remove social boundaries that once divided the old estate and neighbouring communities. The state-of-the-art community facilities and abundance of green open space will bring residents together and offer a true sense of wellbeing in the capital.'
