ORLANDO, Oct. 05, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Covisint Corporation (Nasdaq:COVS) a leading cloud platform provider enabling Internet of Things (IoT) and Identity Management-centric (IdM) solutions, today announced that David Miller, chief security officer for Covisint, will speak on securing the Internet of Things (IoT), as well as demonstrate how a secure cloud platform can unlock the value of IoT as complex connected product initiatives evolve at the Gartner Symposium/ITxpo 2015 taking place October 4-8, 2015 at the Walt Disney World Dolphin Resort, in Orlando, FL.

During the session titled "Simply Securing the IoT as Connectivity Complexity Continues to Mount," Miller will address how a secure cloud platform can effectively manage privacy and security concerns for the currently estimated 18.2 billion connected things.  He will emphasize why the groundwork needs to be developed today to ensure the security of connected things – and other things that connect to them – as the number grows to over 50 billion by 2020.

“There is a lot of discussion geared toward the Internet of a single thing – be it a car, a machine or any other connected object.  But life will soon be different,” said Miller. “We’re moving from more than 18 billion connected things in 2015 to nearly 50 billion objects in 2020. Devices are going to connect with other devices and systems without human intervention.  Securely managing the complexity of interactions of the data and devices will become increasing challenging. A central platform will become a necessity.”
