Bath's leading new property development has scooped a prestigious award at the Sunday Times' British Homes Awards.

Celebrating the best of the country's architects, designers, housebuilders and developers, Crest Nicholson's Bath Riverside won the Best House Design (Above 50 Units) category for its Villas Collection.

Forming part of the Albert Crescent phase, the four-storey, four-bedroom villas have given house hunters a unique opportunity to buy a new property right on the banks of the River Avon.

Designed externally by award-winning architect Alison Brooks, they are completely unique to the city and are the only properties of their kind in the whole of Bath.

Mary Timlin, sales and marketing director at Crest Nicholson said: 'This is fantastic news and we're delighted to have been recognised for what has so far been achieved at Bath Riverside.

'Careful consideration to the design has been key to the development's success and we've been conscious to ensure all the properties built reflect or have some resonance to Bath's classic Georgian past.

'With only one villa left to sell it seems buyers have liked what they've seen and this award is testimony to all those involved.'

Located on the south bank of the River Avon, Bath Riverside has transformed the former Stothert & Pitt, Engineers and Founders which had been left derelict for over 20 years.

With private sales now surpassing 350 properties, its private courtyards, landscaped seating areas and contemporary design has received numerous plaudits, winning more than a dozen national awards.

Aided by the its location and easy, flat walk into the centre of Bath, the fact that house hunters can also see the range and spec of properties on offer, as opposed to off plan, has made it the development of choice for those looking for a new home in the region.

This includes a newly constructed riverside walk which has opened up the area allowing for easy, traffic-free, access to the city centre and for the public to experience and enjoy.

The reopening of the Victoria Bridge has also meant pedestrians and cyclists can gain easy access to Upper Bristol Road.

Mary added: 'To provide an area with new homes that better reflects the need of the city is testament to the vision and determination of all those involved and we look forward to continuing the redevelopment of the area.'
