Living by the river in Bath is much more affordable than a lot of people may think.

That's the reality for those either looking for their first home or who are simply wanting to make the next step on the property ladder.

News on the chance to live on the banks of the River Avon comes from the city's most distinct and important new property development where the current selection of waterside apartments are available under the Government's much heralded Help to Buy scheme.

In addition, those who are tempted by the relaxed lifestyle and proximity to Bath's city centre could also get £500 off the purchase price upon reservation*.

Available at Bath Riverside, with as little as a five per cent deposit, house hunters could soon find themselves lapping up a way of life that can only be found at the world heritage city's most prominent new property development.

Open to anyone buying a new property, under Help to Buy the Government will lend up to 20 per cent of the value of the property through an interest-free equity loan.

This means the purchaser will have to pay just 80 per cent the cost of the property - made up of a 75 per cent mortgage and five per cent deposit.

For example when purchased under Help-to-Buy, one of the apartments currently available at the development will cost £280,000 (a 20 per cent reduction off the £350,000 list price) with purchasers needing a deposit of £17,500.

Danielle Simpson, Sales Manager, Crest Nicholson said: 'Help-to-Buy is a great opportunity for everyone looking to buy a new property.

'What's so good about the scheme is that it is available for all purchasers, whether they are first time buyers or looking to take the next steps on the property ladder.

Current availability includes a selection of one and two-bedroom apartments in the highly distinctive and unique Sovereign Point and Royal View buildings.

With their curved design, each building has no beginning or end and have proved a big draw for those wanting something a little different.

Danielle added: 'The figure of eight design of both Royal View and Sovereign Point has broken new ground in terms of what can be achieved

'Each building also includes a stunning central atrium that mirrors the organic surroundings through the inclusion of either columns of greenery that stretch from the ground floor all the way to the ceiling or green walls that imitate the plating outside.

'The properties in both Royal View and Sovereign Point have been very well received since their launch and we are extremely pleased to be able to offer Help-to-Buy on these brand new homes.

'With the scheme open to properties up to the value of £600,000 means that many of the properties currently available at the development fall within the initiative and is great news for those looking to buy here.'
