CVS Caremark is one of the leading American suppliers of health products and services. Net sales (including intragroup) break down by activity as follows:
- medical insurance plan management services (53.6%; Prescription Benefit Management): administrative management (reimbursement management, patient claim processing, etc.), drug distribution, decision-making information, sales of medical information management services, etc.;
- retail distribution (46.4%): sale of prescription pharmaceutical products (68.8% of sales), OTC products (10.8%), beauty and cosmetics products (5%) and other (15.4%). At the end of 2012, the products are marketed primarily via a network of 7,458 outlets (of which 7,402 pharmacies) under the names CVS and CVS/pharmacy, and via the Internet.
