The Dai-ichi Life Insurance Company, Limited (the "Company"; President: Koichiro Watanabe) is pleased to announce that its 100%-owned subsidiary, Dai-ichi Life Insurance Company of Vietnam, Limited ("Dai-ichi Life Vietnam") has established a CSR foundation, "For A Better Life Fund", and held a commemoration ceremony on September 20, 2016 in Hanoi City.

Dai-ichi Life Vietnam is continuously carrying out CSR activities from the perspective of health, environmental conservation, education and community support. The objective of this foundation is to pursue and commit to mid-long term contribution to the Vietnamese society. The Company has made a donation of 10 billion VND (approx. 46 million JPY) to the foundation.

Since its commencement of business in 2007, Dai-ichi Life Vietnam has outperformed the significant growth of the life insurance market in Vietnam. Its market share based on annual premium income increased from 4.4% at the time of starting business in 2007, to 9.3% as of end December 2015.

Dai-ichi Life Vietnam has simultaneously developed its insurance business and actively engaged itself in social contribution activities. Since 2008, it has been carrying out a joint initiative with the Company to provide free cataract surgery to those who cannot afford the operation due to financial reasons. So far, more than 4,000 cataract patients have managed to take the surgery through this initiative. In addition, Dai-ichi Life Vietnam has continuously engaged itself in other activities, such as educational support, providing support areas which were hit by disasters and infrastructure support in rural areas. These initiatives have been highly evaluated; as a result, Dai-ichi Life Vietnam was the first Vietnamese insurance company to receive the CSR Award at the 2013 Asia Insurance Industry Awards which is the largest contest of the Asian insurance industry, organized by the Asia Insurance Review, a prestigious Asian insurance magazine based in Singapore. The same award was presented to Dai-ichi Life Vietnam again in 2015. Furthermore, it received the Vietnam Prime Minister's Award from the Vietnamese government as a corporation that has made an outstanding effort in areas such as business or social contribution. Its social contribution activities are highly appreciated in the insurance industry in Asia.

By establishing this foundation, long-term plans for social contribution can be formed. At the same time, the

foundation intends to further enhance its social contribution activities in Vietnam by recruiting human resources with specialized know-how in the area.

The Dai-ichi Life Group sets the medium- and long-term management vision "Peace of mind. In communities and around the world." as an objective for 2020. The Group aims to be an insurance group which can evolve together with communities both domestic and overseas, and which shall be chosen by customers all over the world.
