Daihatsu to Provide Vehicles for the Angel Vehicle Offering System Operated by the Ikeda City Government in Osaka Prefecture

Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. (hereafter "Daihatsu") will be providing compact passenger vehicles, either the Boon or the Thor, for the Angel vehicle offering system operated by the Ikeda City Government in Osaka Prefecture, which aims to become "the best city in Japan for children support and child rearing support", from Saturday, April 1 onwards.

Operated by the Ikeda City Government in Osaka Prefecture, the Angel Vehicle Offering System offers vehicles on loan free of charge for a period of three years to households that have their third child or more in the city and that fulfill predetermined conditions.

Eligible households are those that have their third child or more on or after April 1, 2017 and remain residents in the city for at least six months. The model to be leased will be a Boon or Thor equipped with an automotive navigation system, an event data recorder, an ETC option and a collision-avoidance support brake system. Under a free-of-charge lease contract, the vehicle will be offered for lease free of charge for three years.

The voluntary insurance premium, the cost of obtaining a parking space permit, and the cost of the driving and maintenance of the car, such as fuel and parking, will be at the expense of the user, while Daihatsu will cover the cost of new vehicle registration including the automobile tax, the automobile weight tax and the automobile acquisition tax, the compulsory automobile liability insurance premium, and the delivery cost.

The program was run in the city from 1997 to 2011 for households with four or more children. The program will now be relaunched for households with three or more children. The requirement for the period of remaining residents in the city has been relaxed from one year to six months.

Daihatsu will continue to engage proactively in activities that contribute to local communities in an aim to evolve into a more community-based company.
