The Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars received the award for the successful growth strategy. Another Eurostar went to Dr. Klaus Zehender, Member of the Divisional Board of Mercedes-Benz Cars, Procurement and Supplier Quality. In a survey conducted by Automotive News Europe, around 100 suppliers had given Mercedes-Benz the top score for joint implementation of innovative technologies with suppliers. Daimler AG was the only automotive manufacturer who received two awards from Automotive News Europe this year.

Dr. Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars: "We are growing profitably, our strategy is bearing fruit. We are steadily continuing along our path. By 2020, we will bring eleven new models without predecessors on the market. And we will continue our hybrid offensive: In addition to the recently launched S-Class Plug-In Hybrid, nine more Plug-In Hybrid models will be brought on the market until 2017."

Automotive News Europe highlighted the expansion of the model range of Mercedes-Benz in the compact car segment. This and the introduction of numerous new models have led to another sales increase by 12,3 % to more than 1,032,410 units in the first eight months of the current year.

In addition, Automotive News Europe commended the luxury S-Class sedan, which masters partly-autonomous driving situations in heavy traffic with its driver assistance systems and thus continually enhances the brand image.

The S-Class is pushing the boundaries of technology on a number of levels. It represents the pinnacle of engineering achievement not only for Mercedes-Benz but for the automotive industry as a whole.

Automotive News has awarded a total of 14 Eurostars in different categories this year. In the Procurement category, supplier companies evaluated 23 automotive manufacturers in Europe, including Russia, under the aspect of the collaboration on innovative technologies. The survey was conducted electronically from April to May 2014 by the auditing and consulting firm of Deloitte by order of Automotive News Europe. Daimler received the top score for its passenger cars division in June and was awarded as the leading automotive company for innovation management in collaboration with suppliers.
