• S 516 HD new team bus for the long-established Cologne club

  • ComfortClass 500 vehicle is owned by operator Schilling Omnibusverkehr GmbH

  • Three-axle model fitted with 28 comfortable leather seats

Stuttgart/Cologne. The Cologne-based '1. FC Köln' football team started this year's Bundesliga season with a new S 516 HD. Even before the whistle blows for the start of the 2014/15 season, the Rhineland club has scored by taking on the Setra ComfortClass 500, so ensuring that the team plays in the premier league when it comes to team travel as well.

That's also the way that Karl Kläs and Karl Schroeteler, the managing directors of bus operator Schilling Omnibusverkehr GmbH (SOV), see things. They're the ones who have provided the black-liveried three-axle model to the Cologne sports club, now playing once again in the top division: "The S 516 HD meets the requirements of our long-standing partner '1. FC Köln' in terms of comfort and safety one hundred percent."

Three-axle model fitted with 28 comfortable leather seats

28 Setra Voyage Supreme leather seats with electronically adjustable lumbar supports ensure that the players travel in exceptional comfort, even on longer journeys. They also have the option of sitting back in relaxed style in seats with electrically adjustable leg supports, arranged in a face-to-face configuration at two club tables, or of enjoying snacks and fresh drinks from the integrated on-board kitchen. There is a power socket and USB port at each seat, while LED reading lights ensure a pleasant level of interior illumination during nighttime journeys.

The touring coach includes such features as the Lane Assistant and an adaptive cruise control system with Active Brake Assist (ABA2), which also reacts to stationary obstacles and significantly reduces the risk of accident.

What would '1. FC Köln' be without its club mascot? It goes almost without saying that an image of the club's mascot, the billy goat 'Hennes', also adorns the new Setra bus. Further features include ambient lighting to help the team bus driver when reversing in the dark.

Bus operator Schilling Omnibusverkehr GmbH began life as a taxi company

Schilling Omnibusverkehr GmbH (SOV) and coach tour operators K-B-S Busreisen GmbH and K.R.B. Busreisen GmbH together form the Schilling group of companies. The company was established as a taxi company some 45 years ago by Anna Schilling. The current generation at the helm, Karl and Brigitte Kläs, née Schilling, and their son Marcel have joined forces in recent years with Cologne's local public transport operator "Kölner Verkehrs-Betriebe AG" to develop SOV into a highly efficient provider of transport in the Cologne region.
