Customers have a wealth of options at their disposal when buying a car today. From body variant through engine type to colour, wheel design or interior appointments, customers are able to choose from thousands of alternatives and configure their Mercedes-Benz according to their very own individual wishes and ideas. To help customers make up their minds, Mercedes-Benz has developed a variant of the configurator designed especially for tablets: the "Decision Pilot".

The tablet configurator works like an app, but without requiring downloading in a browser. The navigation system is able to provide the user with all the information they require for their ideal vehicle, but only shows such information as is actually required. When the user is uncertain about which alternative to choose, two different configurations can be compared directly via the comparison view. This greatly simplifies the process of configuring a vehicle. The number of users visiting the configurator has grown substantially since the "Decision Pilot" was launched. The full version of the configurator is also available on all other mobile devices, such as smartphones. The concept for the Mercedes-Benz "Decision Pilot" was developed by the agency for web and mobile formats Jung von Matt/next (Hamburg) and realised by Sevenval, a technology specialist and solution provider for mobile marketing.

Mobile solutions from Mercedes-Benz

Mercedes-Benz has been quick to recognise the importance of mobile devices to interactive mobile marketing in the area of customer advice and service, continually expanding its offerings in this field. In 2009 the global website was launched in a mobile version. The following year, the brand offered a portal for smartphones, tablets and the company's own in-car system COMAND Online. Tailored to the respective types of device, the mobile portals are geared to the users' needs and have been launched in more than 40 markets in the past three years. Mercedes-Benz has set a benchmark in mobile marketing with these portals. This is confirmed, for example, by the MMA (Mobile Marketing Association) "Smarties Global Gold" award which went to the company in 2012 in the category "Mobile Websites".
