Exclusively from Daimler brands: when the 2014 International Commercial Vehicle show (IAA) opens to the public from 25 September to 2 October, visitors will be able to try out advanced technology for themselves and experience it live at the nearby road safety centre in Hanover-Laatzen. Over 30 trucks, vans and buses are available for test and demo drives during the show.

Test trucks and experience off-road and hybrid expertise

Drivers will be able to try out Proximity Control Assist in the Actros or test the Mercedes PowerShift 3 transmission in off-road mode, and move off with the precise turbo retarder clutch in the Arocs. There will be spectacular demos of Active Brake Assist 3 and the engageable front-wheel-drive system Hydraulic Auxiliary Drive (HAD). The Unimog's off-road characteristics and the Zetros cab-behind-engine truck are all set to provide similarly exciting experiences on a special course. Traversing the off-road terrain in a Fuso Canter 4x4 with all-wheel drive is just as thrilling. Driving on the road in the Canter Eco Hybrid is also compelling.

Mercedes-Benz Vans: safety systems at the limits of what is possible

Courtesy of Mercedes-Benz Vans, visitors can actively experience the numerous assistance systems. The Sprinter Safety Van impressively demonstrates how adaptive ESP works. Other highlights include a tricky parking manoeuvre with Active Parking Assist in the V-Class.

Mercedes-Benz Travego: experience Active Brake Assist 3

The Mercedes-Benz Travego with Active Brake Assist 3 showcases a superior level of safety for a state-of-the-art touring coach. During vehicle manoeuvres, passengers will have an opportunity to find out how this emergency braking system works at first hand.
