System Includes Large-Screen LED Video and Scoring
Displays, Sound System and Digital Media Network
BROOKINGS, S.D. - Feb. 3, 2012 - In its inaugural season,
Florida Atlantic University's new football stadium had many
amenities to showcase including a state-of-the-art video,
scoring, sound and digital media network provided by
Daktronics Inc. (Nasdaq-DAKT) of Brookings S.D.
The most visible component of the system is a new light
emitting diode (LED) video display that towers over the
south end zone area. Measuring approximately 30 feet high
by 50 feet wide the video display incorporates excellent
clarity and contrast of video images, multiple levels of
protection from the elements and a more robust cabinet
design with an improved ventilation system. This technology
and its control system allow for complete flexibility in
programming. The video board can operate as a single giant
display or be divided into multiple zones (windows) to show
a wide variety of statistics, information, graphics,
animation and live and recorded video.
Also included in the south end zone structure is a
Daktronics custom sound system. The system delivers
pounding bass energy, smooth mid and high range frequencies
and high impact entertainment. Daktronics audio systems
provide the latest in digital audio technology to deliver
seat shaking bass, crisp highs and natural sounding vocal
reproduction. The system also operates on reduced power
thanks to more efficient digital amplifiers and power
supplies.
In addition, the north end zone features a custom LED
scoreboard measuring nearly 57 feet wide displaying game
in-progress information.
The most unique feature of the stadium is a venue-wide
digital media display network which incorporates over 70
professional grade LCD screens. The next generation
broadcast solution provides an internet protocol television
(IPTV) solution that delivers multiple live content
channels to any display in the venue. The solution is built
around a computer network structure, so it can be expanded
to accommodate nearly any form of digital media.
Engineered by an established leader in data integration,
the Daktronics IPTV system enables users to connect to a
complete collection of news wires, databases and scoring
devices to instantly present up-to-the-minute scores,
statistics, news and information to any IPTV channel.
Different channels can offer different information
simultaneously from live video to data focused for fantasy
leagues.
Daktronics IPTV systems also offer the unique opportunity
to provide true sponsor exclusivity. Operators have the
ability to override content on any or all LED or LCD
displays in the stadium to show a sponsor's logo or
advertisement guaranteeing venue-wide exposure and greater
value for marketing partners, and increased revenue
opportunities for the property and its tenants.
Also included in the project is the new Show Control system
from Daktronics. Show Control provides a powerful
combination of display control software, world-class video
processing, data integration, and playback hardware that
forms a user-friendly production solution. The new system
is touted by experts as the best in the industry. For more

Located on the campus of FAU, the new multipurpose facility
will seat to a capacity of 30,000. Home to the FAU Owls
football team, the stadium will allow students, alumni and
fans to enjoy a great game day experience.
