Bologna, May, 9th 2012 - The Datalogic Group, world leader in
the Automatic Data Capture and Industrial Automation markets,
has signed two self-shopping agreements with the Italian
retail giants Conad Adriatico and Bennet, through its
controlled company, Datalogic ADC. This division created in
January 2012 from the integration of Datalogic Scanning,
Datalogic Mobile, Enterprise Business Solutions and Evolution
Robotics Retail, is a world leader in the Automatic Data
Capture market.
The partnerships include the supply of 276 Joya pods, 192 of
which for the Bennet store in Lecco and 84 for the Conad
Adriatico store in San Benedetto del Tronto. The
Shopevolution™ 6.0 middleware will also be used to support
the Joya pod. This multi-platform middleware that supports
all major databases and operating systems goes beyond normal
self-scanning, by adding new functions, such as Push and Pull
Marketing, One to One Communication and Digital Signage.
The Datalogic system offered to Bennet and Conad is actually
quite simple. One must simply point the Joya pod at the
product barcode and click on a button. This allows the
customer to put all the items directly in the shopping bag,
check the total amount spent at all times and go directly to
reserved checkout counter without having to wait in line.
"Spesa al volo (Shopping on the fly), the name used for this
self-shopping service at Conad Adriatico, and the complete
refurbishment of the San Benedetto del Tronto store, are
among the large investments Conad Adriatico is making in the
Marche, Abruzzo and Molise regions of Italy, with the
objective of creating 10 new supermarkets with at least 200
new job opportunities. Today, the Conad Adriatico chain
includes 9 E.Leclerc Conad hypermarkets, 14 Conad super
stores, 61 Conad supermarkets, 134 Conad city stores, 16
Todis stores, 59 Margherita stores and 45 L'Alimentare
stores.
The service used by Bennet customers in Lecco is called
"SpesaPass (Shopping pass). It allows the customer to consult
the shopping list, offers, shopping total and go directly to
checkout without having to wait in line.
These two partnerships confirm Datalogic ADC leadership in
the European retail sector with installations in over 400
stores in several countries, such as Italy (Coop, Conad,
Auchan, Esselunga, Famila, Lombardini, Finiper, E.Leclerc
Conad, Iperal, Bennet), France (Groupe Casino, ATAC and
Carrefour), Belgium (Delhaize Group and Carrefour) and the
United States.
Mauro Sacchetto, CEO of Datalogic Group, commented: "People
need practical tools that make them have fun and help them at
the same time. The Joya pod personifies these
characteristics. It makes payment fast, reducing the time
spent in line by 80%, so the customer can buy the needed
groceries, pay and bring them to the car quickly. In
addition, the customer can check how much is being spent and
the list of products purchased in an instant. This aspect
allows the customer to have more control over the shopping
process. The agreements with Conad and Bennet confirm
Datalogic's success and the leadership role obtained with the
Joya pod and Shopevolution middleware. This is yet another
demonstration of the importance our company gives to
understanding the market and customers, and providing them
with continuous innovation to assure growth.
