• Dell achieved the highest overall performance rating in the 2013 Image Archive Performance Study[1]
  • Dell's Unified Clinical Archive (UCA) solution now managing and securing more than 6.6 billion images in the cloud

Dell announced today that it earned the top performance satisfaction ratings for its Unified Clinical Archive (UCA) in a new report by KLAS Researchon vendor-neutral archive (VNA) companies, "Image Archive 2013: Finding Out What Is in Store for VNA."[1] A VNA is a platform for storing, viewing and sharing medical images across a variety of workflow applications.

According to KLAS, Dell earned top customer performance satisfaction ratings in the study, and was top rated among vendors delivering needed functionality and new technology.

Dell's UCA solution - which offers both on-premise and cloud-based storage options - simplifies data retention, facilitates disaster recovery and allows medical professionals to access and share images across a variety of applications and platforms. The Dell Cloud Clinical Archive is now managing and securing more than 94 million clinical studies and more than 6.6 billion images, and supporting more than 800 clinical sites in one of the world's largest cloud-based, vendor-neutral medical image archives.

In addition to receiving the highest overall performance rating, "Dell is meeting or exceeding ROI expectations for 89 percent of providers, which is the second highest percentage in the study. Reasons cited were the affordability of the system and the fact that it works like Dell says it will work," wrote study author Ben Brown, imaging research director for KLAS, in the report.

"The volume of digital data within healthcare is outgrowing existing infrastructure and hindering access to data across clinical services. The right VNA solution helps providers meet meaningful use requirements by enhancing secure access to more complete digital patient information, while lowering costs and simplifying business continuity strategies," said August Calhoun, Ph.D., vice president/general manager, Dell Healthcare and Life Sciences. "We believe that this recognition from KLAS is yet another proof point of Dell's leadership in the clinical archiving space."
