Dell SecureWorks, an industry leader in information security services, was ranked as the No. 1 MSSP (Managed Security Services Provider) to watch in Gartner's "Market Trends: Managed Security Services, Worldwide, 2013"1 report.

The Gartner report stated the following when referring to the need for MSSPs to provide advanced threat detection and protection technologies:

"Enterprise buyers have recognized that various traditional security technologies based on signature match have become increasingly commoditized while newly emerging technologies to address these more advanced threats are gaining traction in the market. ...During Gartner interviews, several MSSPs have indicated plans to announce advanced threat protection appliances into their management and monitoring services portfolios while others have already announced support. ...Additionally, the specific MSS capabilities for analyzing large customer event datasets to identify key events, trends, behaviors or patterns, and develop threat countermeasures, will be key to whether MSSPs are relevant in future targeted attack conversations..."

Dell SecureWorks launched its management and monitoring of the FireEye Malware Protection System TM (MPS) family of appliances in December 2012 to provide its customers with an additional layer of protection against spear phishing, web and other obfuscated attacks typically used in Advanced Persistent Threat campaigns. FireEye® is a leader in advanced threat protection.

According to the Gartner report, "Best Practices for Mitigating Advanced Persistent Threats"2 published in September this year, "Security program managers need to develop a strategy for dealing with advance threats leveraging both tactical best-practice technology configurations and emerging technologies and incident response processes in order to properly address the most common advanced targeted attack scenarios to increase both detection and prevention capabilities."

Dell SecureWorks recently expanded its support for FireEye Malware Protection Systems TM (MPS) with new services that provide contextual threat analysis of FireEye alerts. Dell SecureWorks is not only monitoring and managing FireEye appliances but is providing customers with valuable insight into the associated malware and the context behind the detected attacks. Most importantly, Dell SecureWorks' security analysts are correlating the FireEye events with FireEye and non-FireEye threats to give customers insight into where the attack is coming from, what the potential intent of the attackers is, where this type of attack has previously been seen, and what actions customers can take to protect themselves from similar attacks.

Dell SecureWorks has a comprehensive portfolio of managed security service offerings which span from Managed Intrusion Prevention and Detection Services to Log Monitoring to Managed Web Application Firewall services. With thousands of customers worldwide, Dell SecureWorks processes more than 60 billion cyber events daily, giving the security provider an unparalleled view into the attack landscape. This intelligence, combined with the expertise of its Counter Threat Unit (CTU) research team and the advanced technology of its Counter Threat Platform, enables Dell SecureWorks to correlate, analyze and condense billions of cyber events into actionable, meaningful intelligence. Using this intelligence, Dell SecureWorks managed services are continually being updated and refined to provide the very best protection for organizations' most valuable informational assets.
