• New Active System Manager 7.5 designed to deliver increased value to customers faster

Dell today announced new enhancements to its unified management platform - Active System Manager - to further enable choice and accelerate convergence for a broader range of customers.

IT organizations today are often burdened by complex data centers, a mix of technologies from different vendors, and cumbersome operational tasks associated with delivering desired workloads while managing the underlying infrastructure. These tasks are typically performed through multiple management consoles, which can dramatically slow down service deployment.

The new Active System Manager 7.5 streamlines deployment and features an enhanced user interface that provides an intuitive, end-to-end infrastructure and workload automation experience through a single console. It provides additional third-party hardware support to aggregate customers' existing heterogeneous infrastructure investments. This speeds up workload delivery and streamlines infrastructure management, enabling IT organizations to accelerate service delivery and time to value for customers.

"The real world of IT is not simple or monolithic. Customers often have a mix of technologies from different vendors and are looking at converged solutions to help run their data centers more smoothly and efficiently," said Sam Greenblatt, chief technology officer, Dell Enterprise Solutions. "The problem is many organizations cannot throw out previous investments to go to a single vendor's converged offering. That's where Dell is unique - we offer a differentiated approach to convergence and offer customers a choice of strategies -whether it is physical or virtual, and also provide options for managing heterogeneous environments. Today's announcement with Active System Manager 7.5 takes our strategy a step further and helps customers accelerate their convergence plans."

Dell Builds on Open Source Commitment
As a demonstration of Dell's continued commitment to the open source community, Dell is working with Puppet Labs, a leading open source project for IT automation, to extend the converged workload automation capabilities of Active System Manager, enabling customers to fully embrace their heterogeneous IT environments.
