Delta Air Lines : Continues Malaria Prevention Efforts in Partnership with Ghana Red Cross Society

ACCRA, February 25, 2015 - Delta Air Lines (NYSE:DAL) today announced it will continue its support of the Ghana Red Cross Society by funding a second year of the organization's 'Hang Up and Keep Up' malaria prevention campaign.  The scheme will benefit thousands of people in three regions of Ghana over the next 10 months thanks to the distribution of Long Lasting Insecticide Nets (LINS) to pregnant women and the under-fives.

This year the program will be further expanded to include the Kpetoae district in the Volta region in addition to the Greater Accra and Upper East regions which were already covered in 2014.  Delta's financial support will provide 3,000 LINS and fund training for an additional 20 volunteers as well as provide refresher training for the existing 80 volunteers in the field.

Once trained, every volunteer will visit 50 households - each with an average of six inhabitants - meaning as many as 30,000 additional people will benefit from practical help and advice regarding malaria prevention in 2015. Delta's partnership with the Ghana Red Cross Society, launched in February 2014, complements the ongoing work of Ghana's National Malaria Control programme.

Delta has an existing national partnership with the American Red Cross providing a variety of opportunities to help alleviate suffering by maintaining a standing offer of complementary cargo and passenger space.

Delta has operated service to Ghana since December 2006 and now operates service to four African cities in four countries.
