Do you know these facts? A person in Taiwan only needs to take 23 footsteps on average to get a glass of water, while in Ethiopia the average is 23 Km. 85% of the world's population live in dry areas and 780 million people don't have access to clean water. Water scarcity kills 6 to 8 million people worldwide every year. Taiwan is ranked 18th in the world for water scarcity.

Taipei, Taiwan, September 12, 2014 - The Delta Electronics Foundation, a pioneer in addressing climate change and promoting environmental education, today announced it will host "Run for Water, Water for Run", an exhibition designed to raise awareness of the water crisis caused by global warming and of water scarcity in Taiwan, at the Songshan Cultural and Creative Park in Taipei. At the opening of the exhibition Delta was honored with the presence of Mr. Tzi-Chin Chang, Deputy Minister of the Environmental Protection Agency of Taiwan, Mr. Wei-Fu Yang, Director General of the Water Resources Agency of the Ministry of Economic Affairs of Taiwan, Mr. Wei-Gong Liou, Commissioner of the Department of Cultural Affairs of the Taipei City Government, ultra-marathon runner Kevin Lin and representatives from the public, private and academic sectors.

Mr. Bruce Cheng, Founder of Delta Group and Chairman of Delta Electronics Foundation, pointed out: "The Fifth Assessment Report (AR5) from the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) includes several warnings regarding water resources but few have paid attention. We hope the exhibition will raise awareness of our limited water sources and encourage the public to use water better." Mr. Cheng also used Delta's Taoyuan Technology Center, a US LEED and Taiwan EEWH Gold-certified green building, as an example of water-saving practices. The building uses up to 5,776 tons of recycled rainwater annually, which is sufficient for its landscape irrigation and toilet flushing water needs for a year. In addition, Delta's factory in Wujiang, China reuses 17,138 tons of water from its air conditioning systems and cooling towers, which is enough to fill 9 standard-size swimming pools.

Mrs. Shan-Shan Guo, Executive Director of the Delta Electronics Foundation, said: "The name "Run for Water, Water for Run" delivers two concepts. First, it relates to our water footprint, which is the total quantity of water we use to produce and consume goods and services, as well as the degree our life relies on water resources. Second, it implies the human tendency to live by water since water provides us with the essence of life. Visitors can see many touching stories of people's hardships due to water shortages. In collaboration with international NGOs, the exhibition showcases water-saving tips from many countries and addresses the challenges Taiwan faces in preserving our water resources. Using advanced multimedia applications, "Run for Water, Water for Run" is an environmental exhibition with remarkable visual impact."

Ultra-Marathon Runner Kevin Lin, an Advocate for Water Resources Sponsored by Delta, Will Attend the Exhibition

To raise public awareness of our limited water resources, Delta sponsored ultra-marathon runner Kevin Lin on a run through the Gobi Desert, Mongolia, in June 2013. Visitors at the exhibition will have the opportunity to witness Kevin's run through the drought land and experience water shortages in the desert on two 350-inch displays enabled by Delta's ultra-high-brightness projector solutions.

Visitors will also appreciate: the poems and the actions of poet Sheng Wu on protecting the water resources of Xizhou Township, Changhua County; the engineering of the "Chianan Canal" that offers harmony between man and water; and, the residents of Namasia, an area frequently damaged by typhoons, who have to draw water from the mountain and who cherish water very much.

The "Run for Water, Water for Run" exhibition also demonstrates a variety of innovations in water savings from around the globe that we can borrow from. For example, "Wim's Bathroom" includes a method for saving water in our daily life. Wim Chang, Deputy Executive Director of the Delta Electronics Foundation, has implemented water-saving practices in his own house for six years. His family of four consumes only 9m3 of water every two months at a cost of only NT$45, which implies a reduction in water consumption of 88% compared to the average Taiwanese household. His household's annual water savings could fill up 228 swimming pools.

The exhibition will be open to the public from September 13 until October 8 and admission is free of charge. Each Saturday and Sunday there will be special guests such as Shu-Chuan Chu, Wu-Long Wang, Yuh-Wen Chiu, Chin-Yuan Ke, poet Sheng Wu, and Yin-Min Liang among other advocates for water resources, who will share their stories related to water. Delta's sincere hope is to inspire everyone to cherish, protect, and transform Taiwan into a land with sustainable water resources.
Taiwan government representatives, ultra-marathon runner Kevin Lin, Mr. Bruce Cheng, founder and Honorary Chairman of Delta and Miss Shan-Shan Guo, Executive Director of Delta Electronics Foundation inaugurated the "Run for Water, Water for Run" Exhibition.
Through the 350" display enabled by Delta's high-brightness projectors, visitors experience the extraordinary story of ultra-marathon runner Kevin Lin across the desert and its limited water resources.
Mr. Ping Cheng visited the exhibition before its inauguration and was highly impressed its design and the videos introducing the journey of ultra-marathon runner Kevin Lin.
