Delta Electronics : Headquarters Building Receives LEED Platinum Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council

The renovation of the existing headquarters building implements many of Delta's own energy saving products and solutions. Delta reduced the total energy consumption of its headquarters' building by 40% in 2015 compared to 2011. Lighting and heating / ventilation / air conditioning (HVAC) renovation projects saved 74% and 25% respectively. Delta received a full score in energy usage efficiency. Compared to other buildings in similar geographical locations, Delta's headquarters achieves 56% in energy savings.

Delta Electronics Chairman Yancey Hai expressed appreciation to Ms. Jane Henley for jointly promoting green buildings with Delta. According to the United Nations' IPCC report, the energy consumption of buildings accounts for 1/3 of total global energy usage, while there is the potential to reduce the carbon emissions of buildings by up to 90%. Implementing energy saving measures in buildings is one of the most efficient ways to meet the challenge of global warming. Over the past ten years, Delta's factories, offices and donated buildings around the world have adopted green building practices. To date, Delta has built a total of 22 green buildings and eight of them have received LEED certification. In 2015, Delta's 12 LEED and EEWH certified green factory/office and donated buildings saved a total of 9,790 MWh of electricity, and reduced 6,961 tons of CO2 emissions.

Ms. Jane Henley said she is impressed with Delta's devotion to constructing and promoting green buildings, and its efforts in developing innovative energy saving solutions and supporting green building education over the past ten years. She also praised Delta's green building design competitions, and its actual construction of the competitions' award-winning designs. She looks forward to seeing more corporations to join green buildings involvement and promotion.

The newly certified headquarters building has adopted energy saving projects that include Delta's HVAC smart automation, intelligent LED lighting, power regeneration units for elevators, data center solutions, renewable energy solutions, energy management software, and more. In addition, Delta has also implemented water-saving solutions in the building's restrooms and has achieved 32.7% in water savings. Air quality in the building has also improved with an indoor air conditioning control system that utilizes fresh outdoor air for cooling.

Delta's headquarters building has also received a diamond-level EEWH certification for existing buildings from Taiwan's government. Not only has the headquarters building set a record for the most significant carbon emissions reduction among Taiwanese office buildings, it has also become a demonstration center that promotes the concepts, practices, and benefits of green buildings.
