Premier audio, infotainment and software services company launches multiple ecommerce sites on the Demandware cloud platform

BURLINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jul. 7, 2015-- Demandware®, Inc. (NYSE: DWRE), the industry-leading provider of enterprise cloud commerce solutions, today announced that HARMAN International Industries, Incorporated, the premier audio, infotainment and software services company, is now powering its digital commerce operations with Demandware Commerce.

HARMAN has been setting the pace of audio and infotainment for more than 60 years. From the world's first stereo receiver to the first concert hall loudspeaker, its legendary brands, such as JBL and Harman Kardon, have been responsible for changing the way people experience entertainment. Today, the company designs and engineers connected products and solutions for consumers, automakers and enterprises worldwide, continuing to find new ways to bring exciting products and technologies into homes, automobiles, studios and venues around the world.

HARMAN recently launched three ecommerce sites on the Demandware Commerce Cloud, including JBL (jbl.com), Harman Kardon (harmankardon.com), and Harman Audio (harmanaudio.com), a multi-brand site, with plans to launch additional sites in Europe and Asia. The sites feature rich imagery and product detail, sophisticated search and consumer-generated content to provide an immersive brand experience.

HARMAN switched from an on-premise platform to Demandware's cloud commerce solution because it needed a more flexible, scalable platform to better support the growth of its online business and the evolving needs of its sophisticated customers. With Demandware, HARMAN has a robust, always-current platform that puts control in the hands of its merchants, and allows it to continually evolve the consumer experience across channels, devices and geographies.

"With our previous platform, we were heavily reliant on our IT staff to make site changes and couldn't move fast enough to keep up with market demands. With Demandware, our ecommerce team has complete control over the shopping experience," said Jarid Lukin, Vice President of Global Ecommerce at HARMAN. "We're now able to meet customer demands across brands through customization, management of products, catalogs, pricing and promotion - and changes can be launched in a fraction of the time. Simply put, we're more agile."

"We're delighted to add HARMAN, a company with a strong heritage of innovation, to our client roster," said Jeffrey Barnett, Chief Operating Officer at Demandware. "Leveraging the robust merchandising tools within Demandware, the company has created compelling shopping experiences that capture the essence of its distinctive brands. As HARMAN continues to expand through additional geographies and channels, Demandware will easily scale to support its growth initiatives."

HARMAN worked with Fluid, a Demandware LINK Solution Partner, on site design and implementation.
