• T-Systems realignment starts to bear fruit
  • Analyst Experton rates big data market in Germany
  • Telekom subsidiary leader in Big Data Operations, Security and Consulting

Experton analysts have now rated active big data providers in Germany for the second time. They analyzed the performance and expertise of a total of 121 IT companies by different dimensions.

T-Systems emerges as the leading provider in the Big Data Operations category. Big Data Operations rates the overall hosting performance and consequently the technical and procedural foundation on which big data providers operate. T Systems is also among the top three in the Big Data Security Analytics and Big Data Consulting & Solutions categories. Big Data Consulting & Solutions supplies information on providers' consulting performance and on additional tools such as test scenario options. Big Data Security Analytics evaluates the level of cyber security customers are offered for analysis of highly sensitive corporate data.

"T-Systems is one of the companies that has addressed and resolved the challenges identified in the categories of last year's benchmark, above all in Big Data Operations. The company wins points for its intelligent strategy and clearly defined portfolio. Thanks to a systematic focus on partnerships with leading big data hardware and software providers, a powerful cloud infrastructure and setting up a dedicated big data team, T-Systems has made it to the top," says Holm Landrock, Senior Advisor Experton Group AG.

The improvement from last year's good position to the top rating in this year's Experton study is yet another success resulting from the realignment at T Systems. In the course of the planned transformation of Germany's only big ICT provider, the data center landscape was adjusted and now comprises a small number of big, strategically distributed computing centers. With the launch of a new supercomputing center in Biere, T-Systems has again intensified its cloud strategy in Germany. As part of its reorganization activities, the company is relying on existing partnerships to develop its own big data infrastructure and solutions. Collaboration is based on the best-in-class principle, with technology partners such as Dell and solution partners that include SAP, Cloudera, SAS, MicroStrategy and Empolis. The object of the T Systems transformation is to strengthen new business models in growth areas such as big data, cloud computing and cyber security in order to assure the company a sustainable position in a toughly contested IT market.
