October 09, 2014 DESTINATION AMERICA PROMOTES SARA HELMAN AND CAROLINE PEREZ TO VICE PRESIDENTS, PRODUCTION AND DEVELOPMENT

(New York, NY ) - Destination America today announced the promotions of Sara Helman to Vice President, Development & Production and Caroline Perez to Vice President, Production & Development for the network. The announcement was made by Marc Etkind, General Manager for Destination America to whom both Helman and Perez report.  In the new position, Helman will continue to oversee development for Destination America's programming and Perez will continue to oversee production for the network's top series. Both Helman and Perez will continue to assist in the creation of Destination America's programming initiatives.

"We can finally reveal the secret behind the success of the network," said Etkind. "There are no more two deserving individuals who have truly helped shape and mold the incredible growth that Destination America has experienced".

Helman joined Destination America in 2013 as Senior Director of Production & Development where she is responsible for the creation and production of the network's hit series 'Buying the Bayou' and 'Amish Haunting' and upcoming new series 'Ghost Stalkers'.   Prior to coming to Destination America, she worked at Food Network and Cooking Channel as Director of Programming.   Helman also worked at Animal Planet as a Manager and then Director of Development overseeing network successes such as 'Tanked' and 'Pit Boss'.   She began her career developing programming for Discovery Kids.

In 2011, Perez joined Destination America as Director of Production & Development developing and executive producing top performing series on the network including 'Mountain Monsters' and 'Railroad Alaska'.  Before joining Destination America, she worked as Director of Production for TLC and executive produced hit series' 'Four Weddings' and 'DC Cupcakes'. Prior to TLC, Perez served as the Director of Development & Production at VH1. She began her career in the Page Program at NBC.

Helman earned her degree in Film/Video Studies and English Literature from the University of Michigan. Perez graduated with a degree in Film Studies from Wesleyan University.
