Independence Day is not just a timeless American tradition, it's the perfect opportunity to come together and celebrate our country and one another - whether the day's spent playing cornhole at a backyard barbecue or waiving a small flag at a local town parade.

To help kick the festivities up a notch, Destination America has partnered with USA TODAY in the third annual Red, White and You contest, where two deserving American communities will win a spectacular Fourth of July celebration, complete with food, entertainment and fireworks.

Now through Sunday, April 5, people around the country have the chance to demonstrate, in 150 words or less, why their town deserves an over-the-top all-American celebration. Perhaps you are looking to mark an anniversary, recognize a group's accomplishments or deliver cheer during a difficult time - whatever the motivation is, this contest will surely host a lot of special and well-deserving submissions.

Last summer's contest garnered thousands of entries, with the grand prize going to Prescott, Arizona - a town still recovering from the devastating wildfires that tragically claimed the lives of 19 brave firefighters and Hamtramck, Michigan - a city that has been hit by hard times but, in true American spirit, is working to make a comeback.
