New York - Discovery Communications announces today the appointment of Joseph Ambeault as Senior Vice President, Product and Technology. Ambeault most recently served as the Executive Director, Consumer Video Product Management for Verizon Communications. In his new role, he will be responsible for all product, engineering, design and program management efforts across Discovery's U.S. Digital organization. Ambeault will report to Karen Leever, Executive Vice President/General Manager, Digital Media, Discovery Communications.

Ambeault spent 11 years in product roles leading the start-up of multiple media and entertainment businesses for Verizon. He was one of the chief architects of the award-winning FiOS TV service. Ambeault was part of the leadership team that launched the Verizon Digital Media Services business, which has grown to become one of the largest content delivery networks. He served as Chief Product Officer and then Chief Executive Officer of Verizon's joint venture with Redbox for a subscription OTT video service. Most recently, Ambeault oversaw the company's OTT video products.
Prior to his roles at Verizon, Ambeault held technology, product and marketing roles for SeaChange International. Ambeault is a member of the National Television Academy of Arts and Sciences Technology committee. He holds a bachelor's degree from Brandeis University and will be based in Discovery's New York office.
