Discovery Communications (Nasdaq: DISCA, DISCB, DISCK) has named Kelly Kane Senior Vice President, Partner Marketing and National Accounts, effective immediately. A 17-year Discovery Communications veteran, Kane will be responsible for the strategic oversight and distribution of the company's portfolio of 13 U.S. networks including flagship Discovery Channel as well as TLC, Investigation Discovery, Animal Planet, OWN, Science Channel and more.

'Kelly has been an integral part of Discovery's Domestic Distribution team for nearly two decades,' said Eric Phillips, President, Domestic Distribution, Discovery Communications, to whom Kane will report. 'Her strategic expertise and forward-thinking approach will prove invaluable as we navigate a rapidly-evolving distribution landscape. I look forward to working with her in this new capacity.'

In her new role, Kane will lead the tactical efforts behind Discovery's award-winning Field Sales and Partner Marketing teams in the Silver Spring headquarters location, as well as the New York and Los Angeles regional offices. She will oversee the company's content distribution strategy, ensuring that viewers across the country have access to Discovery's high-quality portfolio of networks.

Over the past 17 years, Kane has held various distribution sales and marketing positions at Discovery. More recently as Vice President of Partner Marketing, she was responsible for the strategic management of marketing and corporate social responsibility programs with Discovery's affiliate partners. She has also played an instrumental role in developing multi-platform marketing and renewal strategies for the company's negotiations with key distributors.

Kane is a graduate of Harvard Business School's Executive MBA program, a member of the Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing (CTAM) and Women in Cable Telecommunications (WICT). She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from West Virginia University.
