Famous interactive entertainment producer Atari partners with Discovery to access superfan groups with new content

This interactive TV show will be broadcast on Discovery Science in multiple European countries

LONDON, 23 June 2017 - Discovery Communications and Atari have today announced the launch of ATARI: CODEBREAKER, a new game show that will be broadcast in autumn 2017. This TV show will be first broadcast in the U.K and Poland, followed by a selection of other European countries on Discovery Science.

Created in 1972, Atari is a pioneer in the video game industry. It edited numerous worldwide successful games. It also creates arcades, game consoles and personal computers.

ATARI: CODEBREAKER is a unique and captivating quiz game imagined for the Atari generation and their families. Conceived for Discovery Science, the TV show will be themed around global sciences.

Each episode of ATARI: CODEBREAKER consists of four rounds. During the first two rounds, three players will compete in a quiz covering all science topics, from astronomy, geography and everyday science to everything in between. Both winners will compete in the two last rounds, during which they have to find the right combination to open the safe and win all the fabulous prizes it contains.

'We are very happy to announce the broadcasting of our new TV show ATARI: CODEBREAKER this autumn, and we want to thank Discovery for their support' declared Frederic Chesnais, CEO of Atari. 'Offering exclusive experiences to our players and attracting new ones is a key element to our strategy. We are therefore hugely excited to see viewers discover and engage with this new TV show'.

Viviane Paxinos, Vice President of International Ad Sales, Discovery Networks International, said 'Discovery has a rich history spanning over 30 years in the content creation space. We are pleased to have worked with Atari on this project, showcasing the diverse and differentiated Discovery content capabilities. We are committed to super-serving our superfans across all genres and ATARI: CODEBREAKER is a show that audiences will love.'

The content from the show will be used in short form clips, which will in turn push viewers to a dedicated website for the show. This will allow Discovery viewers to satisfy their legendary curiosity and go behind the scenes of the new show, with exclusive interviews with the producers, the presenter, the contestants and the Atari CEO himself. They will be able to follow their favourite contestants, and also play a simplified version of the game.

Additionally, Discovery will run 'Video Billboard' formats running across digital platforms. This will enable further advertising opportunities and a much richer experience of the online Hub as well as the trendy Atari products.

ATARI: CODEBREAKER is produced by Atari Media Production with TH Films, Jeff Mirkin, Bruno Lesassier-Boisaune and Robert I. Blagman. Global Media Fusion is in charge of the promotion and information campaign of this new program which will be hosted by Martin Cole.
