Frost & Sullivan's Manufacturing Leadership Council recently honored The Dow Chemical Company (NYSE: Dow) with four Manufacturing Leadership Awards. These annual awards recognize companies that are "shaping the future of global manufacturing."

Based on the submitted project nominations, expert cross-industry judges selected Dow as a company honoree in three categories: Operational Excellence Leadership, Big Data and Advanced Analytics Leadership, and Next Generation Leadership. Curt Modtland, corporate technology consultant, was recognized in the category of Visionary Leadership.

"These honorees represent just a few of the many valuable contributions our people make to Dow's strategic goals," said Peter Holicki, corporate vice president, Operations. "I am proud of the work these teams have accomplished, not just for Operations and Dow, but for the entire industry."

Dow Hsinchu site's Six Sigma/Lean Journey for Operational Excellence was selected as a winner in the Operational Excellence Leadership category. This project focused on improvement efforts across Dow's Electronic Materials division at the Hsinchu site in Taiwan.

The Real Time Process Support with Enterprise Manufacturing Intelligence project was selected as a winner in the Big Data and Advanced Analytics Leadership category. This initiative allows for the application of new analysis and decision making schemes never before seen in an operational environment.

Texas Operations' Reliability & Maintenance Productivity 2020: Journey to Paramount Productivity initiative was recognized in the Next Generation Leadership category. Projects tied to the program span a wide variety of chemistries, technologies and businesses, providing ample opportunities to place talent in visible and strategic roles.

Curt Modtland, corporate technology consultant, the highest level technical role in Manufacturing, was selected as a winner in the Visionary Leadership category. His contributions, which helped resolve high-value technology issues, will have a long-lasting impact on Dow businesses.

Dow and the other winning companies will be recognized at the 11th annual Manufacturing Leadership Summit and Award Gala, which will take place in June. Jim Fitterling, vice chairman, Business Operations, is scheduled to present a keynote address on "The New Era of Collaboration."
