DP WORLD CHAIRMAN WELCOMES DUBAI MUNICIPALITY GENERAL MANAGER AT JEBEL ALI PORT

HE Lootah and HE Bin Sulayem discuss ways to enhance existing relations between

DP World and Dubai Municipality

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 16 April 2015: A high level delegation from Dubai Municipality, led by Director General HE Engineer Hussain Nasser Lootah, visited DP World's flagship Jebel Ali port today and met with DP World Chairman HE Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem and the global marine terminal operator's top officials.

Mr Bin Sulayem welcomed Mr Lootah and the Dubai Municipality delegation to the state-of-the-art Jebel Ali facility, strengthened further by its recent acquisition of Economic Zones World. Its key asset, the Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZ), is one of the largest free zones in the GCC and a major industrial and commercial development.
Discussions included inventing ways to enhance existing relations between DP World and Dubai Municipality for the benefit of the supply chain in Dubai and the UAE. The meeting was attended by DP World Vice Chairman HE Jamal Majid Bin Thaniah, Group Chief Executive Officer Mohammed Sharaf, and Senior Vice President & Managing Director of UAE Region Mohammed Al Muallem.
Following the meeting, Mr Lootah and the Dubai Municipality delegation toured the port and were briefed on the latest technologies implemented at the brand new Terminal 3. In the Dubai Municipality delegation were Eng. Salem bin Mesmaar, Assistant Director-General for the Environment Health and Safety Supervision, Eng. Salah Amiri, Assistant Director General for Environment and Public Health Services, Khalid Sharif Al Awadhi, Executive Director of the Department of Food Control, Eng. Dawood Hajri, Director of Planning Engineer, Eng. Alia Harmoudi Director Environment, Ismail al- Banna, Director of Corporate Marketing and Relations Department, and Eng. Marwan Al-Mohammad Director of the Department of Health and Public Safety.

HE Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Chairman of DP World, said:

HE Engineer Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director General of Dubai Municipality, said:

Our strong relations with DP World provide traders with services that can handle the increase in local demand from residents and visitors as well as catering for the large influx of tourists expected in the run-up to the EXPO 2020 event. Jebel Ali Port is the largest platform for imports to Dubai and the UAE, and it is a flagship for the country."
Dubai Municipality provides inspection services in two facilities at Jebel Ali Port, dedicated to health and the environment. Jebel Ali Port is the gateway for goods across a region of over two billion people in the Middle East, including Africa and the Subcontinent. With the new Container Terminal 3 (T3) due to be fully operational by the end of this year, the port will have a total capacity of 19 million TEU (twenty foot equivalent container units).
