Lake Malawi is home to one of the world's largest populations of Cichlids comprising about 1,000 species.

Malawi officially joined the DSV family on 1 November 2016 - after having operated under the UTi brand for 26 years, so the company is well-established in the Malawian market.

'DSV Malawi offers a full range of transport and logistics services: Air, sea and road transport as well as warehousing and customs brokerage services,' says Marius Viljoen, DSV's Country Manager in Malawi, and he continues: 'Being landlocked, sea freight to and from Malawi is handled via transit ports in Mozambique, Tanzania and South Africa.'

The head office is in Lilongwe, the country's capital, and we have offices in Blantyre, the country's commercial centre, and in Mwanza and Dedza at the Mozambique border.

Automotive and pharmaceutical companies are our major customer segments together with agricultural trade. Agriculture products account for more than a third of Malawi's GDP, and the country is one of the world's top five tobacco exporters.

One of nine new DSV countries this year

Following the acquisition of UTi Worldwide Inc. in January this year, the following nine countries are being added successively to the DSV Group throughout 2016: Botswana, Cambodia, Israel, Jordan, Malawi, Mauritius, Sri Lanka, Uruguay and Zimbabwe.
