They have driven more than 1,000,000 (one million) kilometers each during a career of at least 20 years. One of our drivers drove a lot longer during his 40 years at DSV.

The awarded drivers (from left to right): Søren Hindsgaard Mogensen, Erling Fogh Hansen, Philip Gade Jensen, Søren Nielsen, Ejnar M. Clausen and Henrik Andersen

Henrik Andersen one of the awarded drivers has been with DSV for 41 years. He is 60 now and began driving for the company when he was only 19. Since then he has driven more than six million kilometres or roughly the equivalent of 150 times around the earth at the equator.

'It was quite a surprise but I am both proud and grateful to be on the list of the very best European drivers,' says Henrik Andersen and continues: 'I have a very good cooperation with our freight forwarders and planners. To a large extent, I can plan my own days and thus avoid a lot of stress and potentially risky situations.'

The six drivers were presented with their diplomas shortly before Christmas at a DSV hosted event for the drivers and their colleagues in Esbjerg, Denmark.

'We are proud to have many skilled and experienced drivers in DSV and to have six drivers meet the criteria for IRU's Diploma of Honour. Both we and our customers benefit from our drivers' professionalism every day,' says Morten Kjærgaard, Director, Domestic Management (Denmark).

IRU is the global industry association for road transport, driving the sustainable mobility of people and goods across the planet.

To be awarded IRU's Diploma of Honour requires that the recipient:

  • has driven a minimum of one million kilometres in a professional capacity
  • has driven the required kilometres during a career of at least twenty years
  • has been with their current company for at least five years
  • has not caused any accidents or committed any serious violations of traffic, customs or administrative regulations

On 9 November 2016, at their General Assembly, the IRU awarded 1,157 bus, coach and truck drivers from 25 countries worldwide.
