Exhibition helps bank empower UAE nationals and jumpstart their career in Islamic banking

Dubai Islamic Bank, the largest Islamic Bank in the UAE, reiterates its support for Emiratisation through its participation at the 15th edition of "Careers UAE".

Hosted under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, "Careers UAE 2015" was held recently at the Dubai World Trade Centre from 28th to 30th April 2015 as a leading recruitment, training and education exhibition. Being a prominent platform for both job seekers and employers, it provided UAE nationals the opportunity to meet a number of leading organisations in the country and identify promising career paths in the different sectors.

By participating in renowned career exhibitions, the bank endeavors to support the government's efforts in elevating nationalisation higher on the national agenda and increasing the number of Emiratis employed by the private sector tenfold by 2021.

Commenting on the event, Obaid Al Shamsi, Chief of Human Resources and Admin, Dubai Islamic Bank, said: "As the first Islamic bank in the UAE, we have a longstanding heritage of supporting the development of the local community and nurturing national talent. Over the past forty years, we have regarded Emiratisation as a key element of the bank's philosophy and as such, we strongly believe that we have a responsibility to build a sustainable pipeline of Emirati leaders who will be able to promote the economic and social development of the UAE."

"With this goal in mind, we are working relentlessly to attract Emirati job-seekers and position the banking sector as an attractive employer. We will continue to invest heavily in implementing initiatives and programmes designed to advance local talent, and as a result, we look forward to tapping into the pool of exceptional job-seekers at the fair this year. Moving forward, we are eager to see more Emiratis leading the future of the banking sector locally and driving the global appeal of Islamic finance."

DIB has successfully developed a range of comprehensive training programs across different levels of the bank. It also offers various programs specially designed for UAE nationals that are aimed at providing aspiring candidates a chance to gain first-hand experience in different areas of the bank, allowing DIB to identify potential candidates for full-time positions. Indicative of its success, the bank has seen its Emiratisation ratio at 45% well above industry requirements.

Further to its commitment to employing and retaining Emirati nationals, DIB has been recognised with multiple Human Development Awards for its achievements in recruiting UAE nationals and supporting the development of the country.
