CHARLOTTE, N.C. -

Duke Energy's energy assistance programs are once again preparing to assist customers struggling to pay their winter energy bills.

Continuing a 30-year commitment, Duke Energy, its employees, customers and shareholders will provide the funds across the company's six service areas. These funds will be distributed through local agencies and available to qualified senior citizens, families and others.

"We care about the well-being of our customers and know that many of them struggle to stay warm during winter," said Gayle Lanier, Duke Energy senior vice president, Customer Services. "As we enter another winter heating season, we remind our customers that resources and support are available to help with their winter bills. Duke Energy also thanks the many customers who contribute to these energy assistance programs each year. This generous support has meaningful impact for thousands of people."
