PLAINFIELD, Ind. - Starting in early November, approximately 1,300 Duke Energy customers who live on Jeffersonville's south side are getting a home energy makeover, courtesy of Duke Energy Indiana.

Through the company's Neighborhood Energy Saver program, these customers will receive a free home energy assessment and installation of up to 16 energy-saving improvements at no out-of-pocket cost. In addition, selected customers will learn how to take control of their energy costs by practicing energy-saving habits.

The free products can save customers up to $95 per year on their electric bills depending on individual circumstances.

Some of the 16 energy-saving improvements that will be installed by the Neighborhood Energy Saver program include:

  • Water heater wraps and insulation for water pipes

  • Energy efficient light bulbs

  • Water-saving faucet aerators and shower heads

  • HVAC filters and a filter-change calendar

  • Weather stripping and door sweeps

'We're excited to bring this program directly to our customers' homes,' said Lisa Brones Huber, government and community relations manager for southern Indiana. 'It's a great way to help customers save energy, save money and improve their quality of life.'

Eligible customers have been invited to a kick-off program on Thurs., Nov. 3 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Parkview Middle School auditorium, 1600 Brigman Ave., Jeffersonville. Invited customers should make a reservation to attend the program by calling toll-free 855.231.5273 as soon as possible. Duke Energy representatives, along with officials from local relief agencies and the city of Jeffersonville, will be on hand to answer questions.

The Neighborhood Energy Saver program is an income-qualified program that targets neighborhoods based on federal and state guidelines, as well as U.S. census data.

Since the Neighborhood Energy Saver program was launched in March 2015, more than 2,300 Duke Energy Indiana households have received free energy makeovers.
