PLAINFIELD, Ind. - Duke Energy has announced recommendations to help prepare a site in Bloomington, Ind., for business and industrial development as part of Duke Energy's Site Readiness Program.

The chosen site is a 53-acre parcel of land in Bloomington at 3300 Bunger Road, which is close to the Monroe County airport and Interstate 69.

The recommendations were developed and presented to local officials by representatives of McCallum Sweeney Consulting, a nationally recognized site-selection consulting firm.

Some of the recommendations from the site consultant's report deal with how to develop basic infrastructure such as water, sewer and electric service at the site, as well as suggestions for marketing the property to potential industries who may locate there.

Duke Energy awarded the economic development organization in Bloomington a check for $10,000 each to help implement the recommendations.

'Economic development plays a vital role in keeping our communities strong and healthy,' said Erin Schneider, director of economic development for Duke Energy Indiana. 'We're proud to help our partners in Bloomington find ways to attract and keep jobs in the local area.'

The Duke Energy Site Readiness Program is a key element of Duke Energy's economic development model. It identifies, evaluates and improves industrial sites in the company's service territory to help communities served by the utility compete for new companies and jobs.

Duke Energy Indiana's overall economic development program has also been consistently named by Site Selection magazine as one of the nation's 'Top 10 Utility Economic Development Programs.' Since 2008, the company has participated in the creation of nearly 20,000 jobs and total capital investment of approximately $4.5 billion.
