(Atlanta, Ga. and Indianapolis, Ind. - May 3, 2016) The Atlanta, Ga. office of Duke Realty Corporation (Duke Realty) has earned the company's prestigious 'CEO Award for Diversity,' a recognition earned by the business unit in the company that exemplifies a significant commitment to diversity and inclusion through its programs and activities and achieves notable results due to its efforts. The CEO Award for Diversity, which was first instituted in 2008 by Duke Realty, a leading nationwide REIT (Real Estate Investment Trust) specializing in the ownership, management and development of bulk distribution and medical office buildings, is part of the company's overall goal of sustaining a culture of diversity and inclusion throughout the organization.

The selection of the Atlanta office was based on its leadership and success in four areas during 2015: business development, recruiting and retention, supplier diversity and community service. Notable accomplishments by the Atlanta team were the high percentage of associates who volunteered and financially contributed to organizations dedicated to improving the lives of area citizens. The Atlanta office also focused on partnering with its clients and vendors to support its efforts in community initiatives, such as the Susan G. Komen Gala, Operation Christmas Child and scholarships for economically challenged youth. The office worked to increase awareness among minorities of job opportunities in commercial real estate through a lunch-and-learn for high school students in a partnership with the Urban League of Greater Atlanta, membership in CREW Atlanta and sponsoring a professional women's conference at Terry College.

'The Atlanta team embraces the spirit of diversity and inclusion, as evidenced by the development and implementation of a local, targeted diversity action plan designed to strengthen our inclusion and outreach efforts,' said Chris Brown, Senior Vice President of Duke Realty's Atlanta and Nashville Region. 'We are proud to receive this award and are committed to pursuing ongoing diversity initiatives and engaging diverse groups in our business.'

'Diversity is an ongoing and important initiative at our company,' said Jim Connor, President and CEO of Duke Realty. 'Our associates, tenants, customers, suppliers and potential candidates for hire are increasingly diverse, validating the importance of enhancing our ability to value all people, regardless of their race, gender, background or beliefs.'

This is the first year that the Atlanta office has been awarded the Duke Realty CEO Award for Diversity. All of Duke Realty's 15 business units across the country submitted detailed applications outlining their diversity and inclusion initiatives and results to compete for this annual award. The evaluation process was led by the Best Practices Committee of the company's Diversity Council with a rigorous, metric-driven scoring process.
