We are currently seeking applicants for a highly motivated and dynamic Quality Engineer to work in our R&D Laboratory located at our Queanbeyan facility.

This position principally involves the conception of test systems and protocols for QA/QC of deposition processes being developed for scaling-up Third Generation Solar Cells from laboratory scale to prototyping and manufacturing.

Role and Duties

The candidate is expected to perform a range of hands-on activities/tasks including but not limited to the following specific duties:

  • Evaluate specifications and requirements of existing laboratory processes and understand implications for corresponding scale up processes
  • Contribute to the sourcing and/or design, development and commissioning of selected deposition processes for scale-up
  • Leadership role in test and monitoring system development for all considered processes. Active involvement in the fabrication of devices using investigated processes for the validation of these systems
  • Process and analyse data according to standard procedures and templates, as well as contribute towards developmental improvements of analytical methods, data processing and analysis procedures
  • Contribute as a member of the R&D group towards agreed work packages and support others in developing / understanding new process requirements
  • Responsible for formal documentation, including reports, test instructions and process instructions
  • Undertake other duties appropriate to this level which contribute to the operations of the section.

Qualifications and/or Experience

Appropriate applied tertiary degree in engineering, preferably process engineering or related. Ideally, the successful applicant will have a working knowledge within a similar role/industry.

 Skills and Attributes

  • Proven track record in delivering challenging engineering projects - on budget and on time
  • Experience in materials and device characterisation, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated proficiency in record keeping of experimental records

We are currently seeking applicants for a highly motivated and dynamic Device Scientist to work in our R&D Laboratory located at our Queanbeyan facility.

This position principally involves the preparation and of materials, as well as the development optimisation of processes and devices for Third Generation Solar Cell applications.

Role and Duties

The candidate is expected to perform a range of hands-on activities/tasks including but not limited to the following specific duties:

  • Evaluate various solid state DSC (ssDSC) components in laboratory test cells and through other analytical and characterisation methods as instructed
  • Trial and optimise processes for the fabrication of ssDSC. Develop or contribute to the development of alternative processes with the view to scale-up. Some processes will be performed in controlled atmosphere environments (for example, glove box or dry room)
  • Contribute as a member of the R&D group towards agreed work packages to ensure all necessary experimentation is carried out in a timely manner in order to achieve group KPIs
  • Prepare experimental plans including formulation of hypotheses based on up-to-date understanding in the field
  • Process and analyse data according to standard procedures and templates, as well as contribute towards developmental improvements of analytical methods, data processing and analysis procedures
  • Provide informed technical commentary on experimental results, including relating observed results and data to hypotheses formulated during experimental planning.  Write technical reports detailing experimental progression from hypotheses to outcomes
  • Undertake other duties appropriate to this level which contribute to the operations of the section.

Qualifications and/or Experience

Appropriate applied tertiary degree in science, preferably materials science, chemistry or physics. Ideally, the successful applicant will have a working knowledge within a similar role/industry (PV, DSC).

We are currently seeking applicants for a highly motivated and dynamic Chemist to work in our Materials R&D Laboratory located at our Queanbeyan facility.  This position is full time and principally involves the production and participation in the optimisation of processes of chemical compounds for Third Generation Solar Cell applications.

The ideal candidate will be expected to perform and participate in range of activities/tasks including the following specific duties:

  • Develop methodology to carry out the manufacture and scale-up of organic and organometallic species to kg scale
  • Develop purification methodology of the synthesised compounds using scalable technologies specifically hole transport materials (HTM's), HTM dopants and photo-sensitisers
  • Prepare detailed process instructions for large scale manufacture
  • Participate in the analysis and quality control of the synthesised products; and
  • Keep up to date on new procedures and laboratory instrumentation.

Qualifications and/or Experience

Appropriate applied tertiary degree in Chemistry, practical experience in organic and organometallic synthesis.  Knowledge of standard analytical techniques (GC,HPLC,NMR,KF).  ISO/GMP certification would be considered highly desirable. Ideally the successful applicant will have experience in a similar role/industry.
