E.ON is using innovative products to help its customers declare their independence from traditional energy supply structures. Going forward, customers will be able to not only produce their own solar power, they will now also be able to store it in unlimited amounts - for use whenever they need it. As part of the concept called 'Your Energy,' E.ON is planning to introduce a range of digital products to the market this year. The focus will be on solar power.

As early as April, the company will begin offering E.ON SolarCloud, a product that offers a new independency in energy supply. Solar power producers will be able to store an unlimited amount of the energy they produce on a virtual electricity account and then draw on it any time they like however they like. During an initial phase, E.ON SolarCloud will be introduced on the German market as an innovative enlargement of the E.ON Aura solar power storage solution.

Plans to expand the product further are already in place. This will make it possible to recharge electric vehicles on the go using electricity the customer produced himself. What's more, E.ON is also designing solutions to sell surplus solar energy directly to neighbors or to share it with friends.

'We're tearing down former barriers in the power system and enable our customers to design a free, personal and efficient supply of energy,' said E.ON board member Karsten Wildberger. 'The new products strengthen our position as a leading company in a dynamic energy market. It also marks another step in E.ON's transition from a traditional energy supplier to an innovative, customer focusing company, fully committed to a sustainable, digitized and decentralized energy environment.'
