Kingsport, Tenn., USA - Feb. 25, 2015 - New food container products by Mori 2A S.r.l. are made with Eastman Tritan™ copolyester, providing customers with options free of bisphenol A (BPA). Mori 2A is an Italian company specializing in display containers, spatulas, drinkware and trays used in cooking, ice cream shops and restaurants. The company's latest additions feature Tritan, a new-generation copolyester that is dishwasher durable, tough and has crystal-clear clarity.

The new products made with Eastman Tritan™ copolyester include containers, drainer plates, drinkware, and standard and airtight lids. They complement an extensive line from Mori 2A that features products made of stainless steel, polycarbonate, polyethersulphone and polypropylene.

Proactive approach
"We have been very pleased with our line of containers, but saw an increased interest from customers in products that are free of BPA," said Alvise Mori, managing director, Mori 2A. "As regulation changes regarding BPA in France were pending, we proactively sought an alternative material that allowed us to deliver the BPA-free option our customers wanted."

France's legislation banning BPA in all food contact materials and applications went into effect Jan. 1, 2015. Since Jan. 1, 2013, BPA has been banned in food contact materials intended for use by children up to 3 years of age.

In the search for a material that could provide alternatives to customers, the Mori 2A team discovered Eastman Tritan™ copolyester and worked with Eastman's technical experts to test the material. Ultimately, they decided Tritan was ideal for the application.

Added functionality
Beyond being BPA-free, the workability and appearance of Eastman Tritan™ copolyester had to align with the company's existing products. Mori 2A found that the material allowed for a design that was consistent with its stainless steel and polycarbonate products while adding functionality and toughness. The line - used for displaying, storing and serving food - needed to be easy to clean and store.

"Mori 2A's proactive approach to addressing customer needs shows its dedication to providing the best possible product line," said Eric Mercier, specification sales representative, Eastman Chemical Company. "Through our collaborative efforts, we were able to help Mori 2A diversify its already extensive line with complementary, functional products, and, in doing so, expand its customer base."

The Mori 2A line is sold specifically for catering and in select department stores. For more information on the line, visit www.Mori2A.com.
