Airbus Selects Eaton to Provide Conveyance Products for New
A350 XWB Passenger Jets; Design Optimizes Safety and Reduces
Aircraft Weight
CLEVELAND … Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton
Corporation announced that it has been selected by Airbus
to provide conveyance components for 250 new A350 XWB
commercial passenger jets in production through 2017.
Eaton's components serve key functions in the aircraft's
environmental control system (ECS), which supports cabin
safety and air quality, and the single-joint design also
helps reduce overall aircraft weight. The contract value
has not been disclosed.
Eaton will supply pneumatic couplings, flanges and seals
required to secure ducts in the ECS and maintain a safe and
comfortable passenger cabin. Eaton's unique design, which
can be found on the vast majority of fixed-wing aircraft in
production today, incorporates the three products into a
complete joint, optimizing weight savings and ease of
installation.
"Eaton's extensive experience in aerospace components,
years of flight service and talented employees are
important factors in delivering the highest levels of
safety and reliability to our customers," said Andy Weeks,
general manager of Eaton's conveyance systems division.
"We're pleased to provide component support to Airbus for
all variants of the A350 XWB platform that will improve
aircraft performance, and also reduce overall aircraft
weight to increase fuel efficiency."
Components for the A350 XWB will be manufactured at Eaton's
aerospace facility in Beltsville, Md.
