Eaton's Intelligent Power Manager Software Version 1.43 Enhances Integration with VMware Site Recovery Manager to Advance Virtualization Capabilities

RALEIGH, NC - Power management company Eaton today announced the global launch of its Intelligent Power Manager™ software version 1.43, strengthening its integration with VMware® vCenter™ Site Recovery Manager. Increasing ease-of-use and reliability for data center and information technology (IT) managers, Eaton's newest version of Intelligent Power Manager software features a new user interface with vCenter's Site Recovery Manager that includes both environment alarm and power alarm functions to initiate data replication.

"Eaton's latest Intelligent Power Manager software addresses key priorities in the data center, simplifying power management processes and most importantly, maximizing uptime and reliability to protect critical workloads," said Hervé Tardy, vice president and general manager, Eaton Distributed Power Quality Division. "Enhancing operations and converged infrastructure deployment, Eaton continues to maximize business value through product innovation and collaborations with major virtualization platforms."

Eliminating the need to download additional modules for deployment, Eaton's Intelligent Power Manager software version 1.43 is pre-configured to operate with VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager. Eaton's Intelligent Power Manager software is designed to automatically synchronize virtual machines and initiate recovery failover to avoid data loss and reduce downtime during a power event. Intelligent Power Manager software is also engineered to identify a power event immediately, initiating a backup site and triggering VMware Site Recovery Manager's disaster recovery failover and planned migration processes.

Streamlining the needs of customers and extending the benefits of its latest offering, Eaton's Intelligent Power Manager software version 1.43 will now be available with the E Series uninterruptible power system (UPS). Providing enhanced monitoring and management capabilities, the software serves as an upgrade for end-users with the Winpower software platform.

Eaton's newest enhancement is the latest improvement upon Intelligent Power Manager software's existing VMware integration, which enables IT personnel to view, monitor and administer physical and virtual servers, in addition to UPSs, enclosure power distribution units (ePDUs) and other power devices, through the VMware® vSphere® 5.5 virtualization platform. Eaton is an Elite level member of the VMware Technology Alliance Partner program and its Intelligent Power Manager software is certified VMware Ready™, the highest level of endorsement for VMware based on a detailed validation process.
