More Than 400 Eaton Employees Volunteer at Fairhill Partners in Conjunction with United Way of Greater Cleveland's Days of Caring

CLEVELAND … More than 400 employees from power management company Eaton volunteered at Fairhill Partners Aug. 27 and 28, in conjunction with United Way of Greater Cleveland's Days of Caring. Employees from eight Eaton Greater Cleveland locations completed 97 projects during the two-day event.

"Giving back to our communities is a core value of the Eaton culture. This year marks the 100 year anniversary of Eaton's partnership with United Way, " said Eaton United Way campaign chair, Harold Jones, Eaton senior vice president, Environment, Health and Safety. "We appreciate the opportunity to give back to the community by partnering with Fairhill Partners for this year's event."

Projects ranged from construction and landscaping projects to administrative tasks. Volunteers preformed significant enhancements to the landscaping following the removal of trees considered to be safety hazards, worked to restore an abandoned urban garden with help from the Holden Arboretum and replaced 124 window screens, 200 ceiling tiles and 300 light ballasts and bulbs to increase energy efficiency.

"We are beyond excited about the work accomplished by the Eaton team. Weeks of careful planning and thoughtful allocation of resources have produced a transformation that is truly remarkable," said Stephanie FallCreek, Fairhill Partners President and CEO. "The boost in morale among the Fairhill Board, staff and program volunteers that this work provided is priceless. It means so much to us that Eaton values the work we do to promote lifelong learning, intergenerational relationships and successful aging."

This is Eaton's second time volunteering at Fairhill partners. In 2009, Eaton renovated the property's senior guest house, built picnic tables and removed deteriorated metal structures for recycling, among other landscaping and construction projects.

Fairhill Partners is a multi-tenant nonprofit center that leases space to more than a dozen organizations. Fairhill Partners provides a variety of direct services to adults, including disease management education, benefits screening and application assistance and support groups for family caregivers and older relatives raising children. Today, more than 1,200 visitors, volunteers, employees and clients a month pass through the 10 acre campus which was named a Cleveland Historic Landmark in 1995 and is Northeast Ohio's only homeless shelter for first time homeless older adults.
