PITTSBURGH, PA - Power management company Eaton today announced it is providing critical power distribution equipment and engineering services for the MGM National Harbor. Eaton solutions will help power the one million square-foot destination resort on the Potomac River in Prince George's County, Maryland. Contract terms were not disclosed.

Eaton received the contract from Phalcon Integrated, a leading electrical contractor, and its subsidiary, J.E. Richards, Inc. Phalcon is responsible for setting up the resort's central plant, including all electrical and mechanical systems from startup, commissioning and initial operation. The plant will support the entire facility and Eaton solutions and services will help support safe, reliable and efficient power for all resort activities.

"Phalcon specializes in complex energy projects and our work on the world-class destination resort and casino at National Harbor will support critical power systems," said Michael McPhee, president and chief executive officer at Phalcon. "Eaton's power management expertise and manufacturing capabilities are helping us expedite the project, while incorporating leading electrical solutions to support worker safety, reliable operations and energy efficiency."

The approximately $1 billion dollar resort will include a luxury hotel, casino, theater, retail shops and restaurants. The landmark project is expected to be completed in 2016.

"The facility must operate around the clock, and our expert engineering team and industry-leading solutions will enhance safety and efficiency while also helping to ensure continuous uptime," said Revathi Advaithi, Eaton president, Electrical Sector, Americas.

The project will incorporate Eaton's power distribution solutions and engineering services as well as paralleling switchgear designed to support interoperability and connectivity, so that facility managers have the information they need to make intelligent power management decisions and reduce operating costs.

Under the contract, Eaton will provide critical electrical system solutions including medium-voltage and low-voltage switchgear, switchboards, panelboards, Foreseer® power monitoring software, spot network secondary equipment and dry-type distribution transformers. Eaton will also provide engineering field services and training.
