Eaton to Display Expanded Portfolio of Safety and Communication Solutions for Harsh and Hazardous Environments at Offshore Technology Conference

SYRACUSE, NY - Power management company Eaton now offers a complete package of integrated multimedia communication systems for explosive atmospheres and harsh industrial and marine environments to operate as a single solution, saving cost and simplifying engineering. These latest communication solutions will be on display and demonstrated at the 2015 Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) from May 4 to May 7.

Traditionally, marine vessels, drilling rigs, refineries and industry facilities utilize stand-alone systems supplied by different manufacturers. Using multiple manufacturers increases initial investment cost, adds complexity within communication protocols, and often presents interfacing challenges. However, Eaton's latest communications solutions portfolio fully addresses this issue.

"Our customers rely on our comprehensive range of innovative and integrated signaling, communication and surveillance systems to ensure the highest safety standards in their day-to-day operations," said David Billings, director, sales and marketing - Americas, Hazardous Area Communications Group, Eaton's Crouse-Hinds Division. "With the recent addition of Oxalis PAGA systems and CCTV camera stations, integrated communications has never been simpler."

Hazardous area communications capabilities added by the Oxalis acquisition include:

  • Oxalis IP 1080p HD CCTV - made from all 316L stainless steel for maximum protection against corrosion, this system utilizes industry-leading block cameras for maximum zoom capabilities and high quality video
  • SoniX Public Address General Alarm (PAGA) - advanced communications system for extreme environments that provides high efficiency amplifiers, state-of-the-art IT-style design and main distribution frame (MDF) ease-of-termination

Eaton acquired Oxalis Group Ltd. in January 2015, adding these and other important hazardous area communications capabilities to Eaton's portfolio while also expanding on Eaton's closed-circuit camera station offering.
