The organization's Top 100 Digital Companies list ranks Chicago-area firms by the number of employees in their Chicago area workforce. Echo Global Logistics was selected for its 727 area staff members and is joined in the rankings by companies including Google, Microsoft, Morningstar and Orbitz Worldwide.

According to Built in Chicago data, there are more than 49,000 employees in Chicago working at technology companies, an increase of nearly fifty percent from 2012 levels. Echo Global Logistics announced in its third quarter 2014 report that it had 1,705 employees throughout the country, an increase from the same period of 2013 when it had 1,281 staff members.
