Ecolab Inc., the global leader in water, hygiene and energy technologies and services, has changed the name of Nalco, its water and process services business, to Nalco Water. The new name more clearly communicates Nalco's water management expertise as water scarcity is becoming a major global challenge and an increasing constraint to business growth.

'Nalco Water brings unparalleled water management expertise to customers around the world,' said Christophe Beck, Ecolab executive vice president and president of Nalco Water. 'Water is integral to our customers' key processes, and as demands on the world's limited fresh water resources increase, Nalco Water's role in helping customers enhance productivity and improve product quality while using less water and energy will be more important than ever.'

Nalco Water provides water and process services to customers in a range of industries including food and beverage, buildings and institutions, manufacturing, paper, power, primary metals, chemicals and mining.

Nalco Water will continue to deliver total water management solutions through a comprehensive approach that minimizes water use to maximize operational performance at optimized cost. The company offers industry-leading solutions such as 3D TRASAR™ Automation Technology to meet the complex water management needs of its customers.

'The demand for fresh water is expected to grow by 40 percent by 2030, placing pressure on businesses to rethink how they manage their water,' Beck said. 'To address these challenges, businesses around the world are setting ambitious water goals. Nalco Water and Ecolab are partnering with those businesses to reduce, reuse and recycle water to help achieve their goals and preserve natural resources.'

Nalco Water, which is headquartered in Naperville, Ill., merged with Ecolab in 2011. The name change will not affect Nalco Champion, Ecolab's energy services business.
