Ecopetrol : ECP Oil and Gas Germany GMBH subsidiary registers branch in Angola

MATERIAL INFORMATION

Ecopetrol S.A. (BVC: ECOPETROL; NYSE: EC) ("Ecopetrol" or the "Company) reports that according to information released on July 3, 2014, its German subsidiary ECP Oil and Gás Germany GMBH has registered with the Republic of Angola's Ministry of Justice and Human Rights its branch ECP Oil and Gás Germany GMBH - Sucursal Angola.

This branch has been registered in order to comply with Angolan legal requirements governing the holdings of Ecopetrol S.A.'s German subsidiary in that country's exploratory blocks 38/11 and 39/11, as part of the process of withdrawing from those blocks.
