EDP Renováveis : Renewables Supports Hurricane Harvey Relief Efforts

EDP Renewables' North American headquarters is located in Houston which includes approximately 300 employees and contractors. EDP Renewables' number one priority is the safety of its employees and is grateful each of our personnel remained safe throughout the hurricane.

However, the team was impacted by the catastrophic weather and flooding. About 20% of the team experienced some form of damage or impact from Harvey, with a smaller percentage experiencing significant flooding in their homes and/or loss of cars and other possessions.

EDP Renewables is committed to helping not only their employees, but also the affected communities and has implemented a number of immediate actions to aid in the hurricane relief. Houston-based employees were offered a number of benefits including housing assistance, disaster pay, and additional paid volunteer time. Moreover, the company has made several monetary contributions to date to help the community rebuild:

-- Contributions to the Red Cross to support relief efforts in the community.
-- Contributions to the Habitat for Humanity's Habitat Hammers Back to support repair and rebuilding initiatives.
-- Dollar-for-dollar match for all employee contributions made to the following organizations between August 30, 2017, and September 30, 2017:

• American Red Cross
• Greater Houston Community Foundation (organized by Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner)
• Houston Flood Relief Fund (organized by Houston Texans football player JJ Watt)
• United Way of Greater Houston
• Humane Society (animal relief donations)
• SPCA of Texas (animal relief donations)
• Houston Food Bank

Many employees and friends of employees have helped demolish parts of affected homes owned by both EDP Renewables employees and strangers alike.

Furthermore, EDP Renewables North America (EDPR NA) formed a Hurricane Recovery Management Team comprised of group of its Houston-based employees who are developing and leading company initiatives in the community to respond to Hurricane Harvey.

EDPR NA also launched supply drive to collect necessary household items to help rebuild the city of Refugio, located approximately 40 miles from where the eye of Hurricane Harvey made landfall and the hometown of one of our employees.
