Elders has boosted its northern Australian team with the
appointment of one of the region's most experienced
agricultural operators, Geoff Wagstaff.
Prior to joining Elders, Geoff spent 35 years working in
the Northern Territory, Kimberley Region and Queensland,
most recently managing his own rural consultancy business.
Geoff has previously held positions such as General Manager
Australian Agricultural Company (AAco), Station Manager at
Avon Downs and Brunette Downs, Regional Superintendent of
the AAco Barkly Tablelands group of properties as well as
the Chairman of the Northern Territory Cattleman's
Association in the Tennant Creek Branch.
In his new role Geoff will be responsible for managing
Elders branches and staff stretching from Townsville in the
east, south to Blackall in Central Queensland, Darwin in
the north and Derby in the west.
Elders Group General Manager Australian Network David
Goodfellow said Geoff brings to Elders a wealth of
experience, particularly in the pastoral industry and in
business improvement strategies.
"Geoff will work closely with the Elders network to grow
our business in the north and his management skills,
extensive experience and expertise in the agricultural
industry will benefit Elders and clients alike," David
said.
"Northern Australia is an important part of Elders'
business, particularly with regards to cattle production,
live export and farm supplies, all of which Geoff is
familiar with so he's the right fit for the business," he
said.
Having spent much of his life in Northern Australia, Geoff
loves the land and country of the north and says that he
looks forward to working with the Elders team.
"I've had many highlights over the years and I'm looking
forward to working with some fellow colleagues I already
know and clients that I have already established
relationships with," Geoff said.
"I've grown up in the north, know the region well, and love
the challenge that it brings me," he said.
"Drought, the health and welfare of their livestock, and
how to lift the productivity of their properties are issues
facing producers every day and I'm looking forward to
playing a hands-on role in developing realistic and
workable solutions for them," he said.
